Functional characteristics

By the main functional characteristics (range of respiratory volumes, the range of minute ventilation, respiratory rate, the ratio of inhalation and exhalation, the range of PEEP, automatic and auxiliary modes of ALV, provided range of anesthetic agent concentrations, etc.) anesthesia delivery system «Aelita» meets common physiological characteristics, which are provided with modern high-end anesthesia delivery systems.

The universal digital anesthesia delivery system «Aelita» has the distinctive feature of the operation — the lack of control knobs, buttons, or other «analog» controls. All control is provided via a universal touchscreen interface using touches and gestures on a large 15-inch color touch screen display. It is displayed the only such information and controls which are really necessary at the time for the selected operating mode. This relieves the anesthetist from redundant information, scattering his attention in the course of surgical operation.

Functional characteristics of anesthetic apparatus «Aelita»:

Anesthesia delivery

  • The evaporator of liquid anesthetics — multicomponent (sevoflurane, isoflurane, halothane and others), injector type (direct injection of liquid anesthetic into the breathing gas flow) with electronic digital management and control

  • The ability to accurately measure the amount of anesthetic consumed during anesthesia delivery (up to 0.1 ml)

  • Anesthesia delivery with minimal fresh gas flow (Minimal flow)

  • Low flow anesthesia (Low flow)

  • Anesthesia delivery with a half-open breathing circuit

  • Anesthesia delivery with semi-closed breathing circuit

  • Anesthesia delivery with closed breathing circuit

  • Measurements of separate gas flow (oxygen, nitrous oxide or air) forming a fresh breathing gas mixture using electronic flow meters with indication in digital form

  • Touch control of all parameters of anesthesia delivery and mechanical ALV

  • Ability of refilling canister with CO2 absorbent without stopping mechanical ALV (bypass feature)

  • The possibility of spontaneous respiration or oxygen postoperative patient support when apparatus is switched off or in parallel to another patient anesthesia delivery

  • The possibility of an emergency oxygen supply, bypassing the standard anesthesia delivery.

Modes of mechanical ALV

  • Controlled ventilation with control of the volume of inhalation (V — CMV);

  • Controlled ventilation with pressure control (P — CMV);

  • Auxiliary ventilation by time with the synchronization of the hardware inhalation beginning with a patient breathing attempt

  • Auxiliary ventilation by pressure with the synchronization of the hardware inhalation beginning with a patient breathing attempt

  • The patient’s spontaneous breathing through the apparatus

  • The patient’s spontaneous breathing under positive pressure

  • ALV with manual switching of breathing cycles

  • Mode of operation of the device — durable (use for intensive therapy in the postoperative period and at resuscitation).

Monitoring

  • The actual concentration of anesthetic agents (sevoflurane, isoflurane, halothane, etc.) on inspiration and expiration

  • The actual concentration of N2O in the inhalation and exhalation

  • The actual concentration of inspired oxygen

  • The actual concentration of CO2 in the inhalation and exhalation

  • Pulse oximetry (SpO2, pulse rate of the patient)

  • Patient’s blood pressure

  • Electrocardiography

  • Patient’s temperature

  • Barogram (graphical form and control the pressure in the ventilator breathing circuit)

  • Expiratory patient volume

  • ALV peak pressure

  • ALV average pressure

  • The flow rate of breathing gas (chart)

  • Respiratory volume (chart)

  • The pressure of the medical gases, supplied to the apparatus.

Set values

  • Respiratory volume

  • Minute ALV

  • The frequency of respiratory cycles

  • Positive end expiratory pressure (PEEP)

  • Duration of the inspiratory plateau (constant flow rate; sloping speed; sinusoid speed)

  • The ratio of inspiratory time to expiratory time

  • Limiting the maximum inspiratory pressure

  • Concentration of anesthetic

  • Flow rate of respiratory gases (oxygen, nitrous oxide, air)

  • Percentages of nitrous oxide and oxygen — during operation with half-loop breathing circuit

  • Inspiratory time, respiratory volume, respiratory rate and the sensitivity of the attempt trigger — for a mode of auxiliary ALV by time with patient breathing attempt

  • Inspiratory flow, the upper limit of respiratory volume, pressure control, the sensitivity of the attempt trigger, the waiting attempt time — for a mode of auxiliary ALV by pressure with patient breathing attempt.

Alarm system

Alarm system operates in the audio, visual and textual modes in the following situations:

  • When it is monitored that any of the above indications go out the limits set by the anesthetist (including anesthetic agent concentration, arterial pressure, SpO2, etc.)

  • If breathing circuit is decompressed

  • If it is detected that peak pressure in the breathing circuit deviates by 25 % compared with the established value

  • In the absence of spontaneous patient breathing – when it is detected the absence of 5 consecutive patient breathing attempts in the auxiliary ALV mode (switching to the automatic ALV)

  • At excessively low or high pressure of incoming anesthetic gases

  • An unauthorized failure of the system controlling the concentration of liquid anesthetics — for the decision to switch on the alternative anesthesia delivery

  • An unauthorized power failure (with automatic switching to power from the internal battery)

  • If an amount of available liquid anesthetic is lower 5 ml.

Design features

  • Powered by a standard 220 V power supply (if power crashes then it is automatically switched to built-in rechargeable battery)

  • Provides the breathing gas flow during mechanical ventilation — the built-in gas flow generator with electric drive

  • Compressed gas (air or oxygen) to drive the built-in gas flow generator – is not required

  • Control of all the functions of the device – by screen touch method (touch finger to the appropriate field on the display)

  • All information and controls (virtual «buttons») are located on the display screen

  • In each mode of operation the only necessary information and controls are displayed with the purpose not to distract the anesthetist by redundant information.

  • Display – touch screen, color, 15-inch;

  • Holder for fixing the breathing hoses — flexible, with self-locking joint

  • Power consumption — no more than 150 VA

  • Dimensions — 650 x 650 x 1550 mm.

Additional Features

  • The unit of active evacuation of exhausts gases outside the operating room.

  • The built-in vacuum aspirator.

  • Has a built-loading system that delivers oxygen to the patient during the postoperative period.
